About EditSafely
EditSafely is a collection of 2,676 free online tools for working with JSON, text, CSV, images, PDFs, numbers and more. Every tool does one job well: paste or drop your input, get the result instantly, and move on.
What makes EditSafely different is where the work happens. Every tool runs entirely inside your web browser as plain JavaScript. There is no upload step, no processing queue and no server storing your files. Whatever you paste, type or drop into a tool stays on your device from start to finish.
The service is completely free and requires no signup. There are no accounts, no subscriptions and no locked features. EditSafely is supported by the advertising shown alongside the tools, which lets us keep everything free for everyone.
Have a question, found a bug, or want to suggest a new tool? We would love to hear from you at admin@editsafely.com or through the contact page.
How it works
Your files never leave your computer
"Runs in your browser" sounds like marketing, so here is what it actually means. All 2,676 tools on EditSafely are ordinary JavaScript that your browser downloads once and then runs on your own machine, the way an installed app would. There is no server behind them doing the work, which means there is nothing for your files to be uploaded to.
Compress a 5 GB video here and exactly 0 bytes of it cross the network.
How most online tools do it
5.5 GB over the network- Your 5 GB videoon your disk
- Upload it5 GB up, minutes of waiting
- Their server does the workyour file sits on their disk
- Download the result480 MB back down
How EditSafely does it
0 bytes over the network- Your 5 GB videoon your disk
- Your browser does the workyour own CPU, no upload
- A 480 MB videosaved straight to your downloads
There is no upload step
Your browser opens the file from your disk the same way an installed app would. The bytes go from your drive into this tab and no further.
Big files are not a problem
No server means no upload limit and no queue. Speed comes down to your own machine, so a multi gigabyte file starts processing right away instead of after a long transfer.
It keeps working offline
Once the page has loaded you can disconnect from the internet entirely and the tool carries on. There is nothing on the other end for it to talk to.
Nothing is stored anywhere
No account, no history, no copy on a server waiting to be leaked. Close the tab and the work is gone from everywhere it ever existed.
