Your GIFs never leave this tab
Create a WhatsApp Sticker is JavaScript that your browser has already downloaded, and it does the whole job on your own machine. On a normal site, 200 photos straight off a camera means 1.6 GB uploaded, a wait in somebody's queue, and 240 MB downloaded again. Here it means 0 bytes up and 0 bytes down.
- No upload
- No file size limit
- Works offline once loaded
- Nothing stored or logged
How to use Create a WhatsApp Sticker
- 1. Drop in a GIF or image. Add the file you want as a sticker: a GIF becomes an animated sticker, while a PNG, JPG or WebP becomes a static one. WhatsApp requires every sticker to be a 512x512 WebP file, and the tool handles that conversion for you.
- 2. Keep or drop the margin. WhatsApp recommends a 16 pixel transparent margin between your artwork and the edge of the canvas, so it is on by default. Untick it only when you want the artwork to run edge to edge.
- 3. Press Create sticker. The tool scales your file onto the 512x512 canvas and compresses it under WhatsApp's limits: 100 KB for static stickers and 500 KB for animated ones. Animations longer than 10 seconds keep their first 10 seconds.
- 4. Download and add it to a pack. Save the .webp file. WhatsApp only installs stickers in packs, so collect at least three and bundle them with the Create a Sticker Pack tool, or add the file through any sticker maker app.
When to use Create a WhatsApp Sticker
Create a WhatsApp Sticker converts any GIF or image into a file that meets WhatsApp's exact sticker rules: 512x512 pixels, WebP format, 100 KB for static and 500 KB for animated stickers. Getting those numbers right by hand takes several tools; this page does it in one step.
- Turning a reaction GIF into a sticker. A GIF saved from a chat or made with the MP4 to GIF tool is usually the wrong size and far over the byte limit. This tool trims, scales and compresses it until WhatsApp will accept it.
- Making stickers from your own photos. A cut-out of a friend's face or a pet photo becomes a static sticker in one run. Transparent PNG cut-outs keep their transparency on the sticker canvas.
- Preparing a batch for a pack. Drop several files in at once and convert them with the same settings. Then feed the results to the Create a Sticker Pack tool to get a .wastickers archive you can import on your phone.

About the Create a WhatsApp Sticker tool
Create a WhatsApp Sticker does its work locally, right in the browser. Turn a GIF or image into a WhatsApp-ready 512x512 WebP sticker, under 100 KB for static and 500 KB for animated. There is no upload step, no queue and no account, and your data never travels over the network.
It belongs to the GIF Tools collection on EditSafely, a set of 116 small, focused GIF utilities that share the same instant, private workspace.
You can shape the output with the Keep a 16 px transparent margin (WhatsApp recommends it) setting, and the result refreshes the moment you change it. The finished file is put together in browser memory and saved with the Download button, so it never touches a server on the way to your disk. 2 worked examples further down the page show exactly what the tool produces for real inputs.
Running locally also makes the tool fast and dependable: results appear as you type or drop a file, there is no server outage that can take it down mid-task, and confidential data can be processed without a second thought.
