How to use Crop a GIF Animation
- 1. Add your GIF. Drop an animated or static .gif file into the input pane. Every frame will be cropped to the same rectangle once you set the region below.
- 2. Set Left and Top. Enter pixel offsets for Left and Top to mark where the crop rectangle begins, measured from the top-left corner of the original frame.
- 3. Set Width and Height. Enter the size of the crop rectangle with Width and Height. Together with Left and Top these four values define exactly which region survives in every frame.
- 4. Download the cropped GIF. Save the resulting .gif file. All frames keep only the pixels inside the selected region, and the animation timing stays the same.
When to use Crop a GIF Animation
Crop a GIF Animation cuts every frame down to a single rectangular region, discarding everything outside it. Use it whenever an animated GIF has unwanted padding, watermarks or extra content around the part you actually want.
- Removing a watermark border. A downloaded animation has a website's watermark strip along one edge, and cropping that region out leaves a clean loop without the extra branding.
- Isolating one subject from a group shot. A GIF captures several people or objects moving, and cropping to just one region focuses the animation on the specific subject you care about.
- Fitting an animation to a fixed layout slot. A widget or template has a fixed rectangular image area, and cropping the source GIF to those exact dimensions makes it fit without distortion.

About the Crop a GIF Animation tool
Crop a GIF Animation does its work locally, right in the browser. Cut a rectangular region out of every frame of an animated GIF. There is no upload step, no queue and no account, and your data never travels over the network.
It belongs to the GIF Tools collection on EditSafely, a set of 110 small, focused GIF utilities that share the same instant, private workspace.
You can shape the output with 4 settings, including Left (px), Top (px), Width (px) and Height (px), and the result refreshes the moment you change one. The finished file is put together in browser memory and saved with the Download button, so it never touches a server on the way to your disk. A worked example further down the page shows exactly what the tool produces for a real input.
Running locally also makes the tool fast and dependable: results appear as you type or drop a file, there is no server outage that can take it down mid-task, and confidential data can be processed without a second thought.
