How to use Push List Items
- 1. Paste your existing list. Put one item per line into the input pane. This is the list new items will be added to the end of.
- 2. Enter the items to push. Type the new items, one per line, into the Items to push field. Each one is appended after the existing list in the order you typed them.
- 3. Copy the extended list. Copy the full list with the new items now added at the end, ready to paste back into your document or spreadsheet.
When to use Push List Items
Push List Items adds new entries to the end of an existing list, the same operation a push method performs on an array in most programming languages. Use Push List Items whenever you want to extend a list without retyping everything that came before.
- Adding new tasks to an existing backlog. You have a running task list and just thought of two more items to add. Push them onto the end instead of scrolling to the bottom and typing manually.
- Extending a shopping list mid-week. Your shopping list already has items but you remembered a few more things after checking the fridge. Push the new items onto the existing list before you head out.
- Appending new entries to a fixture file. A test data file lists sample records and you need to add a few more for edge cases. Push the new lines onto the existing list rather than editing it by hand.
- Growing a wordlist over multiple sessions. You are building up a wordlist for a project across several days and add new words each time. Push each day's additions onto the list you saved previously.

About the Push List Items tool
Push List Items runs as plain JavaScript in your browser tab, with no server behind it. Add new items at the end of a list. Whatever you put in stays on your device from start to finish.
The tool is part of EditSafely's List Tools section, 114 single-purpose utilities built around the same idea: open the page, get the result, keep your data to yourself.
You can shape the output with the Items to push (one per line) setting, and the result refreshes the moment you change it. A worked example further down the page shows exactly what the tool produces for a real input.
That local-first design has practical benefits beyond privacy. The tool keeps working on a flaky connection once the page has loaded, results are instant because nothing round-trips to a server, and it is safe to use with confidential material.
Frequently asked questions
Is Push List Items free to use?
Yes, it is completely free. All 2,658 tools on EditSafely work without an account, a subscription or usage limits.
Is it safe to paste sensitive or confidential data?
Everything happens locally. Your browser downloads the tool's code once, then does all the processing itself; nothing you enter is transmitted, stored or logged. You can even go offline after the page loads and it will still work.
How much text can I process at once?
There is no fixed limit. Because the work happens on your own device rather than on a shared server, the practical ceiling is your machine's memory, which comfortably handles inputs far larger than typical online tools allow.
Do I need to sign up or install anything?
No. The tool works in any modern browser on desktop, tablet or phone. There is no account to create, no extension to add and no software to install.
How do I use the result?
The output panel has a one-click copy button, and you can keep refining the input while you work; the result updates in place as you type.
